    Abstract
    This Participatory Action Research was conducted in Nyakatojo village, Mpeefu Sub County, Kagadi district and aimed at examining the “effect of early marriage on family welfare; It involved both the researcher and the community members under the following objectives; To find out the socio-economic factors contributing to early marriages on family welfare; To find out effects of early marriages on family welfare; To suggest strategies for addressing early marriages among the teenagers. The study used descriptive research design in which qualitative and quantitative methods were used. Data was collected using focus group discussion, questionnaire and interviewing method and analysed using excel. A study population of 280 respondents was chosen using Morgan formula to participate in the study and simple random sampling was used to choose the samples to include in the study. The summery of findings includes Findings on the socio-economic factors of early marriages which is poverty, and peer pressure as the greatest, the effects of early marriages on family welfare which is alcoholism and domestic violence as the greatest and Implementation of the research findings that is community meetings for sensitization, income generating activity and education since it was Participatory Action Research
