| dc.description.abstract | This field attachment report details the practical learning experience gained at Miika Farm in Kikonoka Village, Hoima District. The primary objective was to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications in sustainable agriculture. Key activities involved the agronomy of bananas and maize, seed processing, agroforestry practices, biodiversity conservation, water management, and livestock production, including the rearing of dairy cows, pigs, sheep, and rabbits. Community engagement was also a vital aspect of the attachment, where I interacted with local farmers, imparting sustainable farming practices.
The methods employed included hands-on farm operations, problem-solving approaches in resource management, and participatory community outreach programs. Findings highlighted the significant role of organic farming in improving soil fertility and crop yields, as well as the importance of efficient water management practices in ensuring productivity. Additionally, the experience underscored the necessity of biodiversity conservation and climate-smart agricultural practices.
