| dc.description.abstract | This report presents the experiences and lessons learned during a one-month field attachment at
the URDT Demonstration Farm, which took place from June 5th to July 4th. The aim was to bridge
classroom theory with real-world practice in sustainable agriculture. During this period, I
participated in various activities, including compost making, biopesticide formulation, greenhouse
land preparation, tomato pruning and staking, livestock care, and nursery potting. Practical
learning was reinforced through involvement in Community Action Planning (CAP), where we
identified a research topic on comparing Serenade ASO and copper hydroxide in managing
bacterial wilt in Rio Grande tomatoes in Nyamyeguruma village. I gained hands-on experience in
sustainable soil fertility, crop and animal management, and teamwork. While the attachment was
largely successful, some challenges, such as limited farm tools and minor injuries, occasionally
disrupted progress. To improve future programs, I recommend better tool availability, improved
safety measures, and stronger infrastructure. Overall, the experience deepened my skills,
leadership, and understanding of sustainable farming and community-based research | en_US |
